People of Bangladesh eat thousands of types of food including rice, fish, meat and vegetables. But among these there are several foods which can sometimes cause damage to the human body. Although many of these foods seem safe at first glance, they can become toxic for certain reasons or under certain conditions. May become harmful to human body. 

There are also some foods that can cause instant death. Even if the damage caused by certain foods is immediate, it damages the body in the long term. Let's know about some foods which can cause damage to your body depending on the condition.


Patka fish or puffer fish

Patka fish or puffer fish is a very popular fish among the people of several countries [1] including China, Bangladesh, Japan, Korea. But if this fish is not processed properly, it can kill people within hours. Its body contains toxic neurotoxins that can be more effective than cyanide. 

The fish itself may not be harmful, but if the poison somehow remains in the body of the fish and enters the human stomach, it can cause paralysis. It can even cause death. Therefore, before eating, the toxic part of the fish must be removed efficiently.


• Mushroom

Mushrooms are a popular and nutritious food in many countries around the world. Scientists have found that mushrooms are useful in lowering blood pressure, against tumor cells, for polyuria patients, to relieve constipation, to improve digestion, and against diseases such as rheumatic pain.

However, there are thousands of species of mushrooms in nature, [2] and many of them can cause harm to the human body. 8 to 10 varieties of mushrooms are cultivated in Bangladesh. But many varieties of mushrooms found in Bangladesh, especially wild mushrooms, can sometimes prove to be toxic and harmful to the body.

Wild mushrooms in particular, known as frog umbrellas, contain a type of fungus that can be harmful to the liver and kidneys.


Khesari dal

Along with lentils and mung dal in Bangladesh, khesar dal is also included in the diet of many people. Experts say this pulse may contain an alanine amino acid called BOAA. which produces toxic neurotoxins. This acid neuro-lethalism can produce neurological paralysis.

The symptoms of this disease can sometimes appear suddenly. This can cause difficulty in walking and excruciating pain, or paralysis of the legs. Nutritionists say that eating khesari dal for a long time can cause this disease.


• Potatoes 

Type of substance called glycoalkaloids is produced when the roots grow in potatoes. This type of material is born especially if the potato has been lying for a long time. Sometimes the leaves or stems of plants also contain this material. This material is especially high in the red slime that is formed when roots grow on potatoes.

Shamsunnahar Nahid, chief nutritionist at Burden Hospital, said: "These glycoalkaloids can be fatal if they enter the body. Also diarrhea, headache, and people can even go into a coma. It is said that if someone ingests three to six milligrams of this substance in any way, it can cause death.

Besides, a kind of green substance is often seen in potatoes. It is a substance called a carcinogen. which can cause cancer. Such potatoes should not be eaten.


• Tomato

The leaves and stems of the tomato plant contain alkaloids that can be harmful to the stomach. Raw tomatoes are believed to contain this substance. For this reason, nutritionists suggest that you should not eat too many raw tomatoes without cooking them. Because eating large quantities of raw tomatoes can make anyone seriously ill. The leaves of the tomato plant should not be eaten in any way.

Experts say that although it is a nutritious food, bitter cashew nuts contain a toxic substance called cyanogenic glycosides. Which can cause serious harm [1] to the body. It can produce hydrogen cyanide in the body. Raw cashew nuts should not be eaten when they are bitter.


• Apple

Not exactly an apple. Apple seeds contain small amounts of cyanide. As a result, if a large amount of apple seed or seed extract enters one's body. Then it produces cyanide to kill him. And cyanide is a deadly poison. If apple juice is made with beechy, the juice can produce serious poisoning. But apart from the peaches, the rest of the apple contains many nutrients.


• Honey

Many people like to collect honey by breaking the beehive. But food experts say that consuming unpasteurized raw honey can cause a lot of harm to the body. Because raw honey can contain many toxic ingredients. Due to which people can die.


Besides, eating such honey can cause problems like dizziness, weakness, excessive sweating, vomiting. So experts advise to consume processed honey instead of raw honey. In particular, it must be ensured that no bee stings or bee parts are present in the honey.

But nutritionist Shamsunnahar Nahid says, "Motorshuti and beans contain a substance called phytohaemagglutinin, which can cause harm to many people." For this reason, he recommends that the beans be boiled in water for 15 minutes before cooking, draining the water. You have to cook it again.


Kamranga

It is a popular fruit of Bangladesh. Normal people have no problem playing it.  However, for those who have kidney or nervous system problems, Kamranga fruit is harmful, says nutritionist Ayesha Siddiqa.


Raw

Raw is a vegetable of Bangladesh and its leaves are widely used as a vegetable. Nutritionists say that such a component is formed in the raw plant If it is grown in the shade. Which creates allergies for many. As a result, they get itchy, swollen throat after eating kachu.

This is due to the high amount of oxalates in kachu. Sometimes it can lead to death. So if you want to eat something like raw, you have to eat lemon with it. which works synergistically with small amounts of oxalates.

Eating eggs is good for health.  But nutritionists say that eating raw eggs or eating half-boiled eggs is harmful for health. Eating eggs like this is very harmful especially for pregnant mothers.


Canned or processed food

Due to busy schedule many people now prefer to eat canned or processed food.  Because, they are mostly prepared, so it is easy to eat. But if this type of canned food does not good quality or if there is a defect in the manufacturing process, it can cause problems like diarrhea, cancer, etc.
